Finding a good place to stay in Mumbai can feel a bit overwhelming it’s a huge, busy, intense city and where you stay really does affect your experience.
We stayed at Hotel Sahil in Mumbai and honestly, it was a fantastic base for exploring the city as a family.
We stayed there for a few days before heading to Goa (more on that in another post), and then returned again before leaving India which says a lot in itself.
Here’s our honest review.
First Things First: Expect Smaller Rooms (It’s Mumbai!)
Let’s be realistic: rooms in Mumbai are small unless you’re staying in very high-end luxury hotels.
Our room at Hotel Sahil wasn’t huge but that’s completely to be expected in a city like Mumbai. What mattered much more was:
- It was clean
- Comfortable
- Well looked after
- And perfectly fine for sleeping and resting between busy days out
You’re not in Mumbai to sit in your room all day anyway.
The Service: Absolutely Top Notch
This is where Hotel Sahil really shines.
The staff were incredible:
- Friendly
- Helpful
- Welcoming
- And genuinely lovely with the kids
They were always joking with the boys, making them feel welcome, and just generally creating a really warm, relaxed atmosphere.
It’s the kind of place where you feel looked after, not just “checked in”.
The Food: The Best Curry I’ve Had in a Long Time
The buffet breakfast deserves a special mention.
It was:
- Huge
- Varied
- And honestly one of the biggest hotel breakfasts we’ve seen
Perfect fuel for long days exploring Mumbai.
We also ate evening meals at the hotel, and they were simply divine. The curry I had there was genuinely one of the best I’ve had in a long time which says a lot in India. We did ask for the recipe but being seasoned chefs I don’t think they know it themselves and just throw it in haha.
After a long, noisy, busy day out in Mumbai, it was really nice to come back to:
A calm, comfortable hotel with really good food waiting.
Clean, Comfortable and Well Looked After
Housekeeping was excellent:
- The room was kept lovely and clean
- Everything was tidied and refreshed daily
- It felt like a genuinely well-run hotel
When you’re traveling in a city as full-on as Mumbai, having a clean, calm base makes such a difference.
Parking & Valet: A Big Bonus in Mumbai
Hotel Sahil has car parking with valet service, which is a huge plus in a city like Mumbai.
Honestly:
- We would not have wanted to try and navigate or park in that space ourselves
- The valet made everything simple and stress-free
If you’re traveling with a driver or hire car, this is a massive convenience.
Great with Kids
Another big plus for us as a family:
- The staff were brilliant with the boys
- Always smiling, joking, and chatting to them
- It made the whole stay feel more relaxed and welcoming
Not every hotel gets this right but this one really did.
Location & Using It as a Base
We used Hotel Sahil as:
- Our base in Mumbai before heading to Goa
- And again when we returned before leaving India
It worked perfectly for:
- Exploring the city
- Day trips
- And having somewhere comfortable to come back to afterwards
Our Honest Verdict
If you’re looking for:
- A clean, comfortable hotel in Mumbai
- With excellent service
- Amazing food
- And a genuinely friendly, family-welcoming atmosphere
Then Hotel Sahil is a fantastic choice.
Yes, the rooms are on the smaller side but that’s completely normal for Mumbai, and everything else more than makes up for it.
We would 100% stay here again and likely will.
